WHO I AM, WHAT I DO

"One of the most calming and powerful actions you can do to intervene in a stormy world is to stand up and show your soul." - Clarissa Pinkola Estés

My name is Kelsey Minnick and I am an educator specializing in Communication Wellness. Communication Wellness is a holistic form of education and practice that applies to interpersonal and professional communications. Relationships are my passion and my goal in this life is to help individuals/communities become the best versions of themselves through healthy and effective dialogue. By weaving together academic theory, real-life experiences, and reflexive programming, you can tap into a wealth of knowledge and truth around what it means to be a better communicator—for yourself and for your relationships.

The educational aspect of this endeavor is very important to me! After obtaining my B.A. in Cultural Anthropology from the University of South Carolina, I moved to Atlanta, GA to pursue my Master’s in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. After graduating from Georgia State University with my M.A., I knew there was no slowing down; it was time to solidify my place in the world of education as more than just a student and activist. I also knew I wanted to move beyond the southern U.S. and explore the beautiful West! So, I packed up my life and moved to Colorado, where I received my Ph.D. in Communication Studies at the University of Denver. My educational journey has been a long one, but I feel very privileged to have found a calling that allows me to meet new people every day and create better communities in my city. I now call Denver home and live here with my husband and three dogs. When I'm not working with clients or on my programs, I teach full-time for Colorado Early Colleges (Douglas County) as their Communication Studies Professor.

I also have a certificate in Public Theology from the Newbigin House of Studies in San Francisco, a certificate in Non-Clinical Trauma Support from the Trauma Institute International, have served as an assistant instructor and curriculum advisor for IMPACT Personal Safety of Colorado (a not-for-profit organization committed to empowering individuals through classes devoted to physical self-defense and verbal boundary setting), and I am currently working on a certification in Neuro-Linguistic Programming for the Summer of 2023.

Beyond my work as a communications expert, I am a part-time commercial photographer! You can check out my work at the Alkonost Lifestyle Photography link at the top of the page.
